Bothell, WA – After a gap of almost three years, Cascadia College is back at community events.

With COVID-19 cases waxing and waning periodically, in-person events were a thing of the past.

However, with widespread vaccinations and the general public embracing life in a pandemic,

Cascadia College is out and about making its presence felt.

Back in May, Cascadia participated in Centro Cultural Mexicano’s Cinco de Mayo Fiesta para la

Familia. Held at Redmond Downtown Park, this free event saw a large turnout as families

enjoyed a rare rain-free day outdoors. “Our goal is to empower communities by providing

programs for education and by building strong connections through art and culture. We are

proud to share the brilliance and beauty of our culture in a way that all can enjoy and it,” said

Angie Hinojos, Executive Director of Centro Cultural Mexicano.

Also in May, Cascadia College and UW Bothell sponsored Pups and Cubs 1K at the UW Bothell

Husky 5K event. This virtual and in-person race helped raise funds for student scholarships.

With the long winter behind us, there was a sunny

and colorful start to the events month of July with the

City of Bothell’s Annual Fourth of July Parade and

Pancake Breakfast. Cascadia College had a large

contingent of students and staff and their family

members participating in the parade to the cheers of

community members who turned out in droves on

the sidewalks all along Bothell’s Main Street.

Cascadia College made an appearance with crowd giveaways and prizes at the Redmond Derby

Days, a long-standing summer fixture in the City of Redmond held this year on July 8 and 9.

Watch out for the Cascadia College booth in the upcoming “Celebrate Woodinville Festival” on

Saturday, August 13 and at the Saturday SummerFest is organized by the Bothell Kenmore

Chamber of Commerce on August 20.

Along with doing all these events, Cascadia is partnering with Together Center in Redmond—an

organization that envisions a healthy, housed and thriving community where people can easily

access a range of compassionate services in one location—to operate a classroom focusing on

Running Start and Basic Education courses for residents at the south end of our district.

many opportunities and resources available at Cascadia College,” says Sara Gómez Taylor,
