Seattle, WA — Northwest Adoption Exchange (NWAE) is inviting all thoseinterested in adopting from foster care to attend free, virtual information sessionsto learn about the process.
Offered in partnership with the Washington State Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF), these sessions provide guidance and clarity for anyone beginning or continuing their adoption journey.
Who: Open to anyone interested in adopting from foster care in Washington state.
What: Free virtual information sessions on the adoption process.
When: Monthly sessions, participants are encouraged to attend Session 1 before attending Session 2.

“The decision to adopt is a big one, and it’s normal to have questions,” said JoAnn Bowditch, NWAE program director. “Our goal is to provide answers and guidance to families exploring this life-changing path, and these sessions are a great place to start receiving that support.”
Led by experienced child welfare professionals, NWAE’s sessions are presented virtually in two parts and offer a comprehensive introduction to adoption. Participants will gain insights into the needs of youth waiting for permanent families and learn how to navigate each stage of the adoption journey with confidence.
Session 1: Introduction to adoption from foster care
Explore how adoption fits into the foster care system, the types of support available, and what to consider when determining if adoption is right for your family.

Session 2: The steps to adoption
Walk through the practical aspects of adoption, from choosing an agency and completing required training to navigating the home study process.

Sessions are offered at 12 p.m. and 6 p.m. Participants are encouraged to attend Session 1 before attending Session 2.
